Progress continues for the Sigma Nu Fraternity House project at North Carolina State University.
After a week of favorable weather, the masonry veneer work is more than halfway complete. Scaffolding has been partially deconstructed on the left side elevation, giving onlookers a full view of the brick veneer and cast stone detailing. Light mortar with white sand was used to help give the stone a more monolithic look while giving the brick veneer some punch, and a bit of a historic look.
Inside the building, ductwork, sprinkler piping, water piping and electrical rough-ins all compete for space above ceiling. That part has taken quite a bit of coordination, but the general contractor (Omega Construction) and their subcontractors have been diligently planning out their routes and clearances while coordinating all trades.
